Compassionate Release of Superannuation

You may be allowed to withdraw your super early on compassionate grounds to pay for:

  • medical treatment for you or your dependant
  • medical transport for you or your dependant
  • modifications to your home or vehicle to accommodate your or your dependant's special needs arising from a severe disability
  • palliative care for you or your dependant
  • death, funeral or burial expenses of your dependant
  • preventing foreclosure or forced sale of your home

To make a claim under compassionate grounds, you will need to initiate your claim via the ATO.

If you are already approved by the ATO, please submit a request. You will need to attach:

  1. A completed Superhero Withdrawal form:
  2. Your copy of the ATO approval letter.
  3. Copy of your bank statement

When submitting your withdrawal request, please ensure that you provide ID as per the form and that you sign in wet ink.
