Life Insurance
Provides a lump sum benefit to your valid beneficiaries or estate in the event of your death.
Subject to eligibility, our default level of coverage for Life Insurance and TPD insurance doesn’t require any health or medical checks. Perfect for hands-on jobs, but just as good if your work mostly involves spreadsheets. Refer to our Insurance Guide for eligibility requirements.
When you need more than Default Cover, Voluntary Life and TPD offers you up to $3 million in coverage. Tailored to your individual needs, this cover provides peace of mind for you and your family, ensuring support when it matters most.
The insurer will review your application, including medical underwriting, to assess your needs and provide competitive premiums tailored to your individual circumstances.
Superhero Super’s Income Protection Insurance is voluntary cover that offers financial support when you’re unable to work due to injury or illness.
Subject to medical underwriting, it provides up to 75% of your monthly income (up to the maximum benefit). With flexible terms, it’s designed to help you focus on recovery without financial stress.
Register for Superhero Super. The process takes less than 5 minutes.
We will need to get info such as your occupation and the level of cover you need to calculate your premium.
Once your coverage begins, you’ll have a 30-day cooling off period so you can purchase with confidence.
For voluntary cover, email us at super@superhero.com.au, and we’ll guide you through the application process.
When you join as a member of Superhero MySuper, you are automatically provided with:
This default cover is provided without the need for medical evidence and is paid directly from your super account.
Life insurance is a lump sum benefit paid to your estate or valid beneficiaries upon your death, or to you if you become terminally ill. This payout, known as a death benefit, includes your superannuation account balance. If there are no valid beneficiaries, the trustee will decide how the benefit is distributed.
Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance within superannuation offers financial protection if you become totally and permanently disabled, rendering you unable to work again. TPD insurance provides a lump sum benefit to help cover living expenses, medical costs, and other financial obligations if an injury or illness prevents you from returning to work.
Contributions to super, including those used to pay insurance premiums, can benefit from a concessional tax rate of 15% (up to certain limits). This rate is generally lower than individual marginal tax rates, potentially reducing the overall cost of insurance over time.
Getting insurance through super can also be a convenient choice, as premiums are deducted from your super balance. However, you should assess whether the cover meets your needs compared to other insurance options both inside and outside of super.
Insurance premiums vary based on factors like age, occupation and the level of cover chosen. Once you have created an account and go through the onboarding process, we will ask you questions to determine your premium.
You can also see Superhero Super’s Insurance Guide to calculate what your premium would be.
You can change your Default Cover to life insurance only, or reduce your level of cover, at any time by contacting Superhero Super via super@superhero.com.au.
